On location: Miss Dior eau de toilette launch at Heathrow T5

without comments

Dior and World Duty Free Group are celebrating the launch of Miss Dior eau de toilette in the UK with a special promotional area in the retailer’s store at London Heathrow airport terminal 5. The in-store event space features a sculpture shaped like an oversize fragrance bottle blooming with thousands of handmade pink silk roses (one of two that exist worldwide).

The promotional zone is also showcasing a video directed by Sofia Coppola and featuring Hollywood actress Natalie Portman, La Vie en Rose, on its “contentainment” screen to allow customers to “immerse themselves in the world of Dior Heritage and experience the fragrance for themselves”, World Duty Free said.

The scent itself is described by Dior as a modern chypre with a top note of Tunisian neroli oil, a heart that mixes Bulgarian and Turkish rose and Indonesian patchouli in the base. Dior has also launched a new Miss Dior eau de parfum bath and body range comprising body milk, shower gel, deodorant and and edp soap, the latter exclusive to the UK.

Dr Sebagh Travel Kit

without comments

Dr Sebagh Travel KitNot only of traditional mainstream brands live airport duty-free stores. Niche skincare brand Dr Sebagh, which has a cult following due to some of its most popular products (the ones for oily/acne-prone skin are particularly famous), now has its own travel-exclusive set.

The Dr Sebagh Travel Kit comprises a transparent bag containing travel sizes of six products: Suprême Maintenance Youth Serum 5ml, Serum Repair 5ml, Eye Primer Lift 15ml, Foaming Cleanser 50ml, Deep Exfoliating Mask 15ml and Crème Extrême Maintenance 15ml.

I know this set is available in World Duty Free stores in the UK, but am not sure how widely distributed it is – chances are it will be sold at other European locations though. With World Duty Free, the kit retails for £108.30 (roughly $171).

Do you like Dr Sebagh skincare? Is this good value? I don’t really know but would appreciate your comments. :)

Clarins Take-Off Essentials

without comments

As a fan of Clarins skincare, I was very happy when I received this set as a gift. The Clarins Take-Off Essentials set includes six of the brand’s cult and best-selling products in handy travel sizes, all neatly packed in a zipped-up bag that can double-up as your liquids bag for when you’re flying around the world.

The products in the kit are: a 15ml tube of Beauty Flash Balm; a 30ml bottle of Moisture Rich Body Lotion; a 30ml bottle of Hydra Quench Cream; a 50ml tube of Hand & Nail Treatment Cream, fantastic for during flights (when your hand feels extra-dry because of the cabin air); a 100ml bottle of One-Step Facial Cleanser; and a 3ml tube of Eye Contour Gel.

This set retails for £35 (roughly $55) at World Duty Free stores in the UK and €39.90 (about $52.50) in Germany – other locations may have different price points for this as it usually depends on how much the products cost in the local market. As usual, click on the images for larger versions.

Shiseido Perfect Rouge Star Trio

without comments

Shiseido Perfect Rouge Star TrioJapanese brand Shiseido has been getting better and better since Dick Page joined the company as artistic director in 2007, and one of the winners in their revamped makeup range is the Perfect Rouge lipstick collection.

In duty-free, these are available as a special travel set. The Shiseido Perfect Rouge Star Trio includes three individually-packaged shades from the Perfect Rouge selection: RD305 (Salon), RS306 (Titian) and PK303 (Pink Mesa). All three are flattering colours that should suit different skintones, and the formula is moisturising and long-lasting on me.

The set retails for £44.80 (roughly $70) in World Duty Free stores in the UK – I purchased mine at the Heathrow terminal 5 shop. It’s a great deal considering each of them costs £21.50 in the local UK market, and I love every single one of them. In the US they are cheaper ($25 each) and a bit of internet sleuthing will reveal you can purchase the set cheaper at other travel-retail locations around the world.

As usual, click on the pictures for larger versions. All photos were taken in indirect natural light on a cloudy day in Hamburg.

Sisley Phyto Lip Shine Selection Voyage

without comments

High-end French brand Sisley also makes travel-exclusive products, and on my way out of Heathrow last week I spotted this lipstick set at a great price. The Sisley Phyto Lip Shine Selection Voyage comes with a trio of the brand’s Phyto Lip Shine lipsticks in Sheer Rosewood (04), Sheer Raspberry (05) and Sheer Coral (08). As each of these lipsticks usually retail for £27 in the UK and about $50 in the US, the set’s price of £57 is a true duty-free bargain!

I’ve never tried this formula so can’t comment on the quality, although Sisley products are usually excellent – I am more familiar with their skincare range though. The package was also sealed so I couldn’t swatch the lipsticks, but I scrounged some colour swatches so you could have an idea of what they look like.

I spotted this set in the World Duty Free store at London Heathrow airport terminal 5, but I’m sure you could find it at other European travel-retail locations. Click on the two pictures of the set for larger versions.

Guerlain Rouge Automatique Trio

with 2 comments

Guerlain Rouge Automatique TrioI am personally a big fan of Guerlain lipsticks (the Rouge G formula is one of my favourites), and the Rouge Automatique range – first introduced last year – has been a big hit in the beauty world.

In duty-free, Guerlain has launched a set with three popular colours, the Guerlain Rouge Automatique Trio. This collection of lipsticks includes Chamade (164), Champs-Elysées (165) and Coque D’Or (120), packaged in a cutely-designed box. Other brands like Estée Lauder feature individually-packaged products within its travel-retail outer box, but as I didn’t buy this set (I only took pictures while at the airport), I can’t say if this holds true for this latest Guerlain set.

I didn’t include swatches of the three lipsticks in this trio either as those are widely available on other websites and the lighting within the shop wasn’t great – sorry about that!

The price of this set at World Duty Free stores is £57 ($88), a considerable saving as the recommended retail price for each Rouge Automatique lipstick on the high street is £24.50 ($38). If you like all three colours, the trio is a bargain.

As usual, click on the images for a closer look.

Jo Malone tea experience at Heathrow T5

with one comment

If any of you are travelling through London Heathrow airport’s terminal 5 over the next few days, don’t forget to check the main World Duty Free shop for the latest offering from Jo Malone. The brand is hosting a tea-inspired event to introduce its new Jo Malone Tea Fragrance Blends Collection to travellers – customers have the chance to get a complimentary hand and arm massage while enjoying an iced tea cocktail made by mixologists on the spot.

Jo Malone has created a special cocktail boutique within the store, where you can also buy the five fragrances in the collection that have inspired the cocktails on offer. The promotion will run until March 22, from 7am to 7pm daily.
