Clarins Take-Off Essentials

without comments

As a fan of Clarins skincare, I was very happy when I received this set as a gift. The Clarins Take-Off Essentials set includes six of the brand’s cult and best-selling products in handy travel sizes, all neatly packed in a zipped-up bag that can double-up as your liquids bag for when you’re flying around the world.

The products in the kit are: a 15ml tube of Beauty Flash Balm; a 30ml bottle of Moisture Rich Body Lotion; a 30ml bottle of Hydra Quench Cream; a 50ml tube of Hand & Nail Treatment Cream, fantastic for during flights (when your hand feels extra-dry because of the cabin air); a 100ml bottle of One-Step Facial Cleanser; and a 3ml tube of Eye Contour Gel.

This set retails for £35 (roughly $55) at World Duty Free stores in the UK and €39.90 (about $52.50) in Germany – other locations may have different price points for this as it usually depends on how much the products cost in the local market. As usual, click on the images for larger versions.

Shiseido Perfect Rouge Star Trio

without comments

Shiseido Perfect Rouge Star TrioJapanese brand Shiseido has been getting better and better since Dick Page joined the company as artistic director in 2007, and one of the winners in their revamped makeup range is the Perfect Rouge lipstick collection.

In duty-free, these are available as a special travel set. The Shiseido Perfect Rouge Star Trio includes three individually-packaged shades from the Perfect Rouge selection: RD305 (Salon), RS306 (Titian) and PK303 (Pink Mesa). All three are flattering colours that should suit different skintones, and the formula is moisturising and long-lasting on me.

The set retails for £44.80 (roughly $70) in World Duty Free stores in the UK – I purchased mine at the Heathrow terminal 5 shop. It’s a great deal considering each of them costs £21.50 in the local UK market, and I love every single one of them. In the US they are cheaper ($25 each) and a bit of internet sleuthing will reveal you can purchase the set cheaper at other travel-retail locations around the world.

As usual, click on the pictures for larger versions. All photos were taken in indirect natural light on a cloudy day in Hamburg.

Sisley Phyto Lip Shine Selection Voyage

without comments

High-end French brand Sisley also makes travel-exclusive products, and on my way out of Heathrow last week I spotted this lipstick set at a great price. The Sisley Phyto Lip Shine Selection Voyage comes with a trio of the brand’s Phyto Lip Shine lipsticks in Sheer Rosewood (04), Sheer Raspberry (05) and Sheer Coral (08). As each of these lipsticks usually retail for £27 in the UK and about $50 in the US, the set’s price of £57 is a true duty-free bargain!

I’ve never tried this formula so can’t comment on the quality, although Sisley products are usually excellent – I am more familiar with their skincare range though. The package was also sealed so I couldn’t swatch the lipsticks, but I scrounged some colour swatches so you could have an idea of what they look like.

I spotted this set in the World Duty Free store at London Heathrow airport terminal 5, but I’m sure you could find it at other European travel-retail locations. Click on the two pictures of the set for larger versions.

without comments

After opening its first duty-free counter at Hong Kong International airport, beauty brand Agnès b. has launched a travel-retail set for airlines, which is available exclusively on board Korean Airlines flights.

The Agnès b. B. Trendy makeup pouch is priced at $68 and comes with the brand’s beauty blemish (BB) cream, which carries a SPF20 and PA++ protection; a glossy lipstick (but I don’t know the shade, sorry!); a pink mini-gloss; MonoBlush powder in a peachy shade; a heart-shaped mirror; and a branded makeup pouch.

I haven’t tried Agnès b. makeup products yet – if you have, please share your thoughts!

Clinique Best Sellers set

without comments

Clinique Best SellersIf you are a fan of Clinique’s skincare range, this post might interest you. The brand has launched this month the Clinique Best Sellers set, a travel-exclusive trio containing – surprise, surprise! – some of itsmost popular skincare products.

The three products in question are Turnaround Concentrate Extra Radiance Renewer 30ml, Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief 50ml and All About Eyes 15ml.

The first is described by the supplier as providing “a gentle yet high performance exfoliation with moisturisation”; the Moisture Surge cream is an updated formula thatis claimed to keep the skin moisturised for 24 hours; and All About Eyes is the brand’s do-it-all eye cream.

This set is available at duty-free locations in the Americas and Asia/Pacific, but not in Europe (at least for the moment). I’ll update with the price as and when I have it. You can click on the image to see a blown-up version.

DKNY Golden Delicious Holiday Set

with one comment

The DKNY Golden Delicious Holiday Set is another of the many Christmas offerings in duty-free. This travel set contains a 50ml bottle of the Golden Delicious edp and a 100ml tube of the matching body lotion, and it comes in a cute box decorated with golden apples.

I am a fan of the scent since first trying it – it’s a warmer, spicier version of the original DKNY Be Delicious perfume, without the fruitiness of the original and with top notes of orange flower water, sparkling mirabelle and a signature Golden Delicious apple, as well as white rose, vanilla orchid, musk and teakwood. And the bottle is a more elegant and “grown-up” version of the original’s apple-shaped flacon, with a golden lid to match the juice.

The set is available worldwide at selected travel-retail locations. For example, at Iceland’s Keflavik airport you can find the set for around $60.

Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss Trio

without comments

Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss TrioFirst of all, apologies for ‘abandoning’ the blog for so long – I’ve been travelling a lot (both work and holiday) and haven’t had much chance to post here. I do, however, have a backlog of things to share with you, and this is the first one of hopefully many updates over the next couple of weeks.

Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss Trio is a travel-exclusive set containing, as you would expect, three different shades of Chanel’s Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss lip gloss formula. The colours included in the trio are Exuberance (64), Imaginaire (56) and Confidence (55). They didn’t have testers available so I didn’t swatch these, but Imaginaire and Confidence are part of the permanent collection and the wonderful Karla swatched them when they were first launched, and Exuberance is part of the 2011 holiday collection so should still be widely available in-store now.

I saw this set at Toronto airport’s duty-free shop, and it was priced at C$102, but that will of course vary according to location. The presence of the holiday EdG in the trio indicates it’s a fairly new launch too.

Estée Lauder Modern Chic face palette

with 2 comments

Estée Lauder has launched this month a new palette that can only be found at duty-free locations in Europe, Middle East, Africa and the Americas, and if this and other travel-retail exclusives are anything to go by, purples and violets are definitely the “in” shades this autumn/winter.

The Estée Lauder Modern Chic face palette features a blue patent leather-effect bag adorned with a branded charm, and it contains an all-over face brush, two eye applicators, four complimentary shades of Pure Color Eyeshadows (Ivory Slipper, Tranquil Moon, Iridescent Violet and Amethyst Spark), a Signature Blush in Pink Kiss and a face powder (Aeromatte Ultralucent Pressed Powder in Translucent).

The set also comes with a Pure Color Long Lasting Lipstick in Natural Rose, a Double Wear Stay-in-Place Eye Pencil in Black and a Double Wear Zero-Smudge Lenghtening Mascara in Black, the latter two in mini versions for ease of travel.

I don’t have the price for this set yet, but as I’ll soon be jetting off again I’ll update this post when I see it in-store!

Tommy Girl Essentials set

without comments

With Christmas just around the corner, most beauty brands start releasing special gift sets, and some of them produce travel-exclusive varieties of those. The Tommy Girl Essentials set is one of them.

Containing a 100ml Tommy Girl eau de cologne, a 50ml body lotion and a 50ml body wash in a branded gift box, this kit is available at airport shops around the world from this month. As these sets are usually good value even from the high street, if you know someone who likes the scent (or are yourself a fan) why not stock up when you next go travelling?

I don’t know the price for this set yet, but as I’ll be travelling again in a little over a week I’ll update this post when I can.
