Estée Lauder Portable Makeup Brush Collection

with one comment

Estée Lauder Portable Makeup Brush CollectionThis holiday season has been busy with new launches in the duty-free world, and this is one of them. I hope to be able to post more regularly and bring you the other latest products soon!

Estée Lauder has launched this month a travel-exclusive Portable Makeup Brush Collection, featuring what it describes as four “essential travel-sized brushes inspired by global makeup artist-quality brushes”.

These include a foundation brush, a powder brush one for blush and another for eyeshadow, all presented in a blue mock-croc case with golden details, same as the brushes themselves.

Prices vary according to location and I haven’t been travelling recently so can’t update you on that yet, but will edit this post as and when I’m able to. For the same reason I can’t judge the quality of these brushes but imagine they’ll be similar to the ones in EL’s holiday blockbuster sets, which are OK.

Burberry Lip Cover Signature Collection

with one comment

Burberry Lip Cover Signature CollectionThe Burberry Beauty range is one of those that achieved immediate cult status after being launched, but I resisted getting into for a long time (mostly for fear of bankruptcy, I must confess).

Because of that, it was only in July that I bought my first Burberry makeup products, and this was one of them: the Burberry Lip Cover Signature Collection (purchased in Hawaii but also available at London Heathrow airport and other duty-free locations).

This set features three lipsticks from the Burberry Lip Cover range: Nude Beige (01), a pale nude colour; Blush (09), a lovely reddish rose; and Antique Rose (11), a vintage pink shade. The formula is moisturising, pigmented and lasts a decent time, requiring touch-ups after meals. There are plenty of much better reviews than I would be able to write of these on the blogosphere, so I won’t go into too much detail – I do love these though.

I have no idea how much I paid for this set, unfortunately, but will check when I go through the airport again (soon!) for the UK price of the box. For now, I offer you pictures and swatches, and I beg your forgiveness.

As usual, you can click on the images for larger versions.

Clarins Take-Off Essentials

without comments

As a fan of Clarins skincare, I was very happy when I received this set as a gift. The Clarins Take-Off Essentials set includes six of the brand’s cult and best-selling products in handy travel sizes, all neatly packed in a zipped-up bag that can double-up as your liquids bag for when you’re flying around the world.

The products in the kit are: a 15ml tube of Beauty Flash Balm; a 30ml bottle of Moisture Rich Body Lotion; a 30ml bottle of Hydra Quench Cream; a 50ml tube of Hand & Nail Treatment Cream, fantastic for during flights (when your hand feels extra-dry because of the cabin air); a 100ml bottle of One-Step Facial Cleanser; and a 3ml tube of Eye Contour Gel.

This set retails for £35 (roughly $55) at World Duty Free stores in the UK and €39.90 (about $52.50) in Germany – other locations may have different price points for this as it usually depends on how much the products cost in the local market. As usual, click on the images for larger versions.

House of DKNY Coffret

without comments

Miniature perfume sets are a common fixture in duty-free shops around the world, and new ones come out every now and again to refreh the range. The latest addition is the House of DKNY Coffret, a travel-exclusive set containing four miniature fragrances: Be Delicious edp 7ml, Be Delicious Fresh Blossom edp 7ml, PureDKNY Verbena 7ml and the original DKNY Woman edt 4ml.

DKNY Woman comes in a skyscraper-inspired bottle while the two Be Delicious fragrances feature the iconic apple-shaped flacon. Finally, PureDKNY Verbena features a hybrid verbena-basil note and is one of the brand’s latest launches, created in partnership with charity organisation CARE.

This cute set comes in a cityscape packaging and will be available from February at duty-free locations worldwide.

Lunasol Full Glamour Gloss Set

without comments

Lunasol Full Glamour Gloss SetI’m sure I am not the only one who finds it annoying that excellent brands such as Kanebo’s Lunasol aren’t more widely available outside of Asia. Unfortunately, the same tends to happen in duty-free, and this set is not an exception.

I spotted the Lunasol Full Glamour Gloss Set at one of Tokyo Narita airport’s many stores (specifically the ANA Duty Free shop). Exclusive to travel-retail, the kit comes with three lip glosses in the Full Glamour formula – which contain multi-colour shimmer to give depth of shade and feature a slanted applicator to apply the gloss evenly to lips.

I tried to get swatches of the three shades, but unfortunately the sales assistant was hovering over me like a hawk and made me self-conscious (I know, not the best trait for a blogger – I promise to do better next time!). Instead, I’ll leave you with pictures of the products as the shades are pretty true to life (the tubes are transparent, after all).

The set was on sale at Narita for 4,500 yen (about $58). Click on the image above for a larger version.

DKNY Golden Delicious Holiday Set

with one comment

The DKNY Golden Delicious Holiday Set is another of the many Christmas offerings in duty-free. This travel set contains a 50ml bottle of the Golden Delicious edp and a 100ml tube of the matching body lotion, and it comes in a cute box decorated with golden apples.

I am a fan of the scent since first trying it – it’s a warmer, spicier version of the original DKNY Be Delicious perfume, without the fruitiness of the original and with top notes of orange flower water, sparkling mirabelle and a signature Golden Delicious apple, as well as white rose, vanilla orchid, musk and teakwood. And the bottle is a more elegant and “grown-up” version of the original’s apple-shaped flacon, with a golden lid to match the juice.

The set is available worldwide at selected travel-retail locations. For example, at Iceland’s Keflavik airport you can find the set for around $60.

Bourjois Sun Glow Essential set

without comments

Bourjois isn’t a brand that’s widely available outside of Europe, and in duty-free it is most common on board airlines around the world – as such, its travel-exclusive products tend to be handy sets that offer savings against European domestic markets and are easy to pack on the inflight cart.

The Bourjois Sun Glow Essential set is one of those: it comes with the brand’shighly-rated Délices de Poudre bronzing powder, a kabuki brush, what looks like a cool pink Little Round Pot blush (I don’t know the shade, sorry!) and a tube of Effet 3D lip gloss in shade 01 (which I *think* is Rose Pacific). The box also comes with a mini Black & Gold reflections eyeliner.

I found this set listed in Air Arabia’s inflight duty-free catalogue for $39, but on board UK carriers I would imagine it would be cheaper as each of the three products you are officially paying for costs £6.99 (about $11.50) on the high street.

Estée Lauder Pure Color Nail Lacquer Travel Collection

with one comment

Estée Lauder Pure Color Nail Lacquer Travel CollectionDespite having a long name, the Estée Lauder Pure Color Nail Lacquer Travel Collection set is actually a wee little thing containing small bottles of nail polish (four of those, plus a top coat).

This see-through plastic case comes with five 5ml products: Pure Color Nail Lacquer in Berry Desire (04), Berry Hot (06), Tempting Melon (09), Nude Attitude (18) and a Instant Finish Quick Dry (01) top coat.

All four shades are nicely pigmented, even the light cream Nude Attitude. Berry Hot is slightly pearlescent while the other three are matte colours. Two coats seem to be ideal to showcase the shades properly, as you’ll see in the pictures below.

The first two pictures just show the polishes out of the packaging they come in, while the bottom two photos are for one coat (left) and two coats (right) or each of the four polishes for comparison. I am not sure how much this set retails for at airports, but it is a duty-free exclusive. I’ll update this post as and when I have the information.

DKNY Be Delicious Franchise Coffret

without comments

Sets of perfume miniatures are a popular duty-free purchase, so it’s no surprise that Estée Lauder has produced this DKNY Be Delicious Franchise Coffret. It contains four 7ml minis: Be Delicious edp and Be Delicious Fresh Blossom edp, Be Delicious edt and the new Golden Delicious edp (which I personally love).

If you’re a fan of the Be Delicious franchise, this is an interesting product, particulaly if you travel a lot. If you are not familiar with the scents, or would like to give someone a nice gift, this could be an ideal “tasting” package to check whether they are your cup of tea or not.

DKNY Be Delicious Franchise Coffret is already available at travel-retail locations around the world. It is, of course, exclusive to duty-free.

PS: Do you like my new watermark? It goes well with the new layout, don’t you think? ;)

MAC Look in a Box: Girl Next Door

without comments

MAC Look in a Box: Girl Next DoorAlthough you will be unlikely to find this and the other Look in a Box sets at airport stores as they are mostly sold out, as these seem to be available on MAC’s websites in the US and the UK I decided pictures and swatches may yet be helpful to someone.

Today’s set is MAC Look in a Box: Girl Next Door. Like A Very Stylish Girl, It comes with two eyeshadows (the incredibly popular Smoke & Shadows and Grand Entrance, first seen in the Starflash collection), a Cremesheen Glass (Deelight), a tube of Zoom Lash mascara (Zoomblack) and an Iridescent Pressed Powder in Belightful. It originally retailed in UK duty-free for £25.75, cheaper than the other two sets and amazing value.

The curious thing is that even those the eyeshadows in this set were originally available in the starflash formula, the ones in the box are described as frost shades. It doesn’t seem to affect their performance, though – like the original starflash colours, these swatched beautifully.

Click on the pictures for larger versions. I didn’t swatch the mascara as it’s part of MAC’s permanent range. From left to right, the swatches are for Grand Entrance, Smoke & Diamonds, Belightful and Deelight.
