DKNY Be Delicious Franchise Coffret

without comments

Sets of perfume miniatures are a popular duty-free purchase, so it’s no surprise that Estée Lauder has produced this DKNY Be Delicious Franchise Coffret. It contains four 7ml minis: Be Delicious edp and Be Delicious Fresh Blossom edp, Be Delicious edt and the new Golden Delicious edp (which I personally love).

If you’re a fan of the Be Delicious franchise, this is an interesting product, particulaly if you travel a lot. If you are not familiar with the scents, or would like to give someone a nice gift, this could be an ideal “tasting” package to check whether they are your cup of tea or not.

DKNY Be Delicious Franchise Coffret is already available at travel-retail locations around the world. It is, of course, exclusive to duty-free.

PS: Do you like my new watermark? It goes well with the new layout, don’t you think? ;)

On location: Elie Saab lounge at Dubai International airport

without comments

This year saw the launch of the first fragrance by Lebanese fashion designer Elie Saab, known for his couture gowns. Elie Saab Le Parfum was a huge sales success at Harrods in London, where it was available exclusively earlier this year, and has now been rolled out to other locations globally including duty-free shops.

Working with retailer Dubai Duty Free, supplier BPI has created an Elie Saab lounge at Dubai International airport terminal 3 to offer passengers the chance to experience the scent in luxury surroundings. The 24sq m lounge was specially designed for the location and also features the ad visuals promoting the fragrance launch.

See below for a rendering of what the lounge looks like. The Elie Saab space will be available until September 21.

Travalo Excel

without comments

Travalo ExcelThere are quite a few refillable perfume atomiser bottles out there at the moment, but Travalo was one of the first ones to reach the market and it started off as a travel-retail exclusive. Incredibly popular in the channel, Travalo is now listed on board hundreds of airlines and dozens of airports sell it too. You can also find it in domestic markets now.

The manufacturers have now launched a larger version of the atomiser, Travalo Excel. The new product is 20% bigger than the original but fits 30% more fragrance – enough for 65 sprays, according to the supplier. The filling system is exactly the same as the original Travalo’s: a repeat pump action. All you have to do is remove the nozzle/spray head of your fragrance bottle (assuming it is removable – most are these days), fit the atomiser in and pump away until the travel bottle is full (but not overly so!).

Another nifty feature of both Travalo products is the fill-level indicator window to show how much fragrance is left in the atomiser, preventing nasty susprises. The Travalo Excel is 8.6cm long and weighs 20g, and different from its predecessor it comes in a lipstick-style crystal case designed to protect it from scratches and dirt when you carry it inyour bag. Clever, huh?

I have taken pictures of the new Excel with the original Travalo for comparison purposes. The Excel retails for about £12.50 ($20). Click on the pictures for larger version.

L’Occitane Sweet Hearts Perfume Set

with 2 comments

The L’Occitane Sweet Hearts Perfume Set was designed as something you could buy for yourself and as gifts from friends. It comes with four heart-shaped solid fragrances from the brand’s range of Provençal flower scents: Rose 4 Reines (two pots), Cherry Blossom and the new Fleur Cherie.

You can find full descriptions of each of the fragrances on the L’Occitane website. I’m afraid there isn’t much more information about this set that I can share with you, but it costs S$55 (around $45) on board Singapore Airlines flights.

Clinique Happy, Happier, Happiest

with one comment

Clinique is launching this month in duty-free a trio of fragrances including the best-selling Happy and two variations of the scent. The Clinique Happy, Happier, Happiest set features a bottle each of Clinique Happy, Clinique Happy Heart and Clinique Happy In Bloom.

Happy has notes of grapefruit, boysenberry bush flower, Hawaiian wedding flower and spring mimosa, while Happy Heart is described as a “rich floral version”, with water hyacinth and mandarin. Finally, Happy In Bloom is a fruity floral scent with a decorated bottle featuring a seasonal floral pattern.

The supplier has not revealed the price for this set but I’ll update this post as soon as I find in in a duty-free store. Edit: reader Diana bought it for £40! :)

Jo Malone tea experience at Heathrow T5

with one comment

If any of you are travelling through London Heathrow airport’s terminal 5 over the next few days, don’t forget to check the main World Duty Free shop for the latest offering from Jo Malone. The brand is hosting a tea-inspired event to introduce its new Jo Malone Tea Fragrance Blends Collection to travellers – customers have the chance to get a complimentary hand and arm massage while enjoying an iced tea cocktail made by mixologists on the spot.

Jo Malone has created a special cocktail boutique within the store, where you can also buy the five fragrances in the collection that have inspired the cocktails on offer. The promotion will run until March 22, from 7am to 7pm daily.

Estée Lauder Adventurous

without comments

A few years ago, Estée Lauder began launching fragrances that were exclusive to duty-free and travel-retail locations. These included Bali Dream and Brazil Dream, both inspired by the countries they were named after.

Now, the company has created a new travel-exclusive scent, and I can confess I am a fan. Estée Lauder Adventurous is a warm and juicy eau de parfum that includes notes of star jasmine, vertyver, red berries, caramel musk, African woods, ylang-ylang, mandarin, honey, lotus flower and heliotrope.

The bottle is simple but very pretty, a rectangular container topped by a gold metalised cap silkscreener in a shade of coral “reminiscent of the earth’s warmth”, according to the supplier. The advertising campaign and outer packaging are fronted by Estée Lauder spokesmodel Hilary Rhoda.

To me, Adventurous is quite a unique scent, and despite being an edp it works as a summer fragrance – I certainly will be wearing it a lot over the next few months!

L’Eau d’Issey pour Homme Wood Edition

without comments

The L’Eau d’Issey fragrance for men is one of those timeless classics in the world of scents. Loved by gentlement and ladies alike, the fresh, spicy and woody eau de toilette is a perennial favourite.

Issey Miyake has now launched a version of its best-selling fragrance that is available exclusively in travel-retail and duty-free locations. L’Eau d’Issey pour Homme Wood Edition does not offer a reworking of the scent, however; that is exactly the same as the original. The difference is the bottle, made entirely of recycled wood – the packaging is also recycled paper, making this a very environmentally-friendly release.

The fragrance is already available and retails for£37 in the UK, €49.50 in Germany. Click on the pictures below for larger versions!

On location: London Heathrow airport T3

Paco Rabanne pop-up store at London Heathrow airport terminal 3Although this is not exactly breaking news, Paco Rabanne has recently launched a new ladies’ fragrance, Lady Million, inspired by the success of men’s scent 1 Million. London Heathrow airport’s retail operator World Duty Free hosted the global launch for the perfume earlier this year, and as part of the promotional efforts the retailer and the brand joined forces to create a pop-up store dedicated to the Paco Rabanne world.

The 32sq m outlet is still open and I managed to get a good glimpse of it while going through London Heathrow airport terminal 3 earlier this month. The shop offers the brand’s fragrances, watches and sunglasses and an engraving service for customers to customise their fragrance bottles in-store. A display with original Paco Rabanne dresses worth over €35,000 (more than $45,000) is also available.

Lady Million is now widely available in duty-free shops around Europe and should roll out to other regions soon, in case anyone’s looking to try out or purchase the fragrance.

Angel Stars in the Sky set

without comments

Thierry Mugler Angel Stars in the SkyFans of Thierry Mugler’s Angel fragrance (such as myself) will be tempted by this travel exclusive product. The Angel Stars in the Sky set includes a 25ml bottle of the classic Mugler scent, a favourite of lovers of all things sweet (it has powerful notes of chocolate and vanilla!), as well as a cute 5ml miniature bottle. It retails for about $65 (varying according to location and exchange rates, of course), so it’s not a bad deal at all!

I don’t usually post pure advertising copy here, but this one uses so many adjectives that I thought you might enjoy reading it! :)

A glamorous journey through the Angel’s New Art of Perfuming, where a star and its miniature await you as the ultimate objects of desire. Exhilarate yourself with the sensual and delicious notes of Angel.
