Clinique Lashes Top to Bottom

without comments

Clinique Lashes Top to BottomClinique has launched this month a travel-retail set dedicated to making (all) your lashes look great. The Lashes Top to Bottom kit (not to the confused with the Rethink Lashes Top to Bottom set available at Sephora, which comes with a mascara for top and one for bottom lashes) includes two tubes of High Impact Mascara (tubing, hence waterproof) and a free promotional-sized tube of Bottom Lash Mascara.

According to the supplier, High Impact Mascara adds colume and length to each lash while Bottom Lash Mascara has a brush specially designed for small lashes and a formula that resists smears. The goal, of course, is to pair the mascaras for the desired effect.

This set is exclusive to duty-free locations in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas from this month and will only be available for a limited time, Clinique said. It retails in German airport stores for €29.50 (about $39) but prices will vary according to the location.

Maybelline Sexto The Colossal Volum’Express Waterproof

with 2 comments

The Maybelline Sexto The Colossal Volum’Express Waterproof box is another Asia-targeted set from Maybelline, very much like this one. It contains six The Colossal Volum’Express Waterproof mascara tubes, two of which are described as a free gift with the set.

Like the previous one, it might look expensive compared with the prices for the brand’s products in the US and other markets, but for Singapore – and the set is priced at S$65 (about $50) on board Singapore Airlines – it’s a good deal as each mascara retails for around S$20. You’re paying less than you would for four and getting six, so it’s a no-brainer.

As I have never used this mascara I can’t vouch for the product itself, but if it’s your favourite or a staple product, this might be a good chance to stock up. :)

Maybelline Sexto Volum’Express Turbo Boost Waterproof

without comments

Maybelline Sexto Volum'Express Turbo Boost Waterproof setSometimes duty-free sets offer incredible value against similar or individual products in domestic markets. However, at other times that doesn’t seem to be the case at all. This could be the case with the Maybelline Sexto Volum’Express Turbo Boost Waterproof kit, which comes with six tubes of the homonymous mascara from the US brand, if you consider the US price only, but in the interest of fairness we have to compare its price with what the product costs in its local market.

According to the supplier, the box offers two of the mascaras free, but the set is priced at S$59 (roughly $47) on Singapore Airlines’ inflight catalogue – considering the mascara retails in the US for about $6 each, you might think this is a rip-off. The brand’s Volum’Express Turbo Boost Waterproof mascaras costs S$16.90 each in Singapore, though, so for local customers the kit does offer good value for money.

Here’s the lesson for the day, ladies: duty-free exclusives can be a bargain for customers from some countries but not others, so it’s always worth checking against your domestic prices before buying. Click on the image for a better view of the set.

Armani Code of Seduction

without comments

Armani Code of SeductionNot only of exclusive products lives the duty-free market – sometimes suppliers attract the customers through promotional items such as gifts with purchase or special sets not available anywhere else. This is a good example of these iniatives.

Giorgio Armani’s Code of Seduction set, launched in March at all major European airports, combines a 30ml bottle of Armani Code eau de parfum for women with a tube of Eyes to Kill mascara in steel black and a complimentary satin evening bag. The promotion is presented in “glorifiers” – those glass-encased columns or displays we are familiar with – and the set is priced at €59.

I personally love a good gwp and this looks like a great, practical one. It is clever from Armani to add the mascara to the perfume bundle as many people are not familiar with the product, and the brand could do worse than raising awareness of its makeup range with alrealy loyal fragrance consumers.
