Dior and World Duty Free Group are celebrating the launch of Miss Dior eau de toilette in the UK with a special promotional area in the retailer’s store at London Heathrow airport terminal 5. The in-store event space features a sculpture shaped like an oversize fragrance bottle blooming with thousands of handmade pink silk roses (one of two that exist worldwide).
The promotional zone is also showcasing a video directed by Sofia Coppola and featuring Hollywood actress Natalie Portman, La Vie en Rose, on its “contentainment” screen to allow customers to “immerse themselves in the world of Dior Heritage and experience the fragrance for themselves”, World Duty Free said.
The scent itself is described by Dior as a modern chypre with a top note of Tunisian neroli oil, a heart that mixes Bulgarian and Turkish rose and Indonesian patchouli in the base. Dior has also launched a new Miss Dior eau de parfum bath and body range comprising body milk, shower gel, deodorant and and edp soap, the latter exclusive to the UK.
The Dior Addict Lip Experts Duo comes with two products (as the name indicates): Lip Maximizer, described by the company as a lip care gloss containing collagen activ that can be used on its own or over lipstick; and Lip Glow balm, which is supposed to “instantly revive your natural lip colour”.
Dior claims this expert duo will result in “smoothed, replumped and naturally more luminous lips” – sounds good in theory!
As usual, prices vary according to the market of origin of each airline, but here are a couple of examples: on board Dutch carrier KLM the set costs €48 (about $62), while Cathay Pacific Airways charges $56 for it (remember that Hong Kong is essentially a duty-free territory). The Dior Eye Designer Eye Makeup Palette is a travel exclusive that contains three eyeshadows, eyebrow powder, eyeliner and tweezers for a complete eye makeup set, presented in the company’s traditional velveteen pouch. The box also includes a miniature version of Diorshow Extase mascara.
As the shades are neutral this sounds like the perfect work trip palette if your out for a couple of days. It retails on board Singapore Airlines flights for S$74 (about $60), which is pricey but not out of this world for Dior. I’ll report back when I get my hands on it!
The full name of this palette, if the box is to be believed, is a proper mouthful: Dior Rose Collection Eyes & Lips Palette Healthy Glow Harmony. This little beauty is part of Dior’s Collection Voyage, the brand’s range of travel-exclusive products, and I purchased this palette at Singapore Changi airport en route to Thailand.
Like many of you out there, I’m not the biggest fan of mixed palettes, particularly those with powder/cream products in the same place. However, as someone who travels a lot I do recognise the practical reasons behind having everything in one set as that reduces the space and weight requirements of your beauty kit.
Thankfully, the quality of the eyeshadows in this palette follows the usual high Dior standard of the house’s popular quints. The first shade is a glittery white and the least smooth of the four in terms of texture, but it’s far from chalky. The other three shades (a shimmery pink and two gorgeous taupes of different intensities) have all the buttery goodness of the brand’s iridescent eyeshadows.
The lip shades include a clear lip balm (shade 069), two Dior Addict glosses with silvery glitter that isn’t gritty (183 and 559) and a Dior Addict lipstick (674). The palette also comes with two double-ended applicators, one for the eyes and one for the lips.
The case features Dior’s cannage pattern, like many other travel-retail products. This palette’s price varies according to the duty-free location (airports and airlines both carry it), but I paid around £35 (roughly $56) for it. This is an “oldie but goodie” travel-exclusive product, meaning it’s been around for a while. Dior Lipstick La Collection is a cute set designed especially for the duty-free market and containing five lipstick shades. Which ones, you might ask? Well, that’s a tough one to answer: I have found several versions of the contents on this pack, each listing a completely different set of colours, so I won’t post them here. What I will post is the supplier’s description of the product
Enter the Avenue Montaigne mythical universe with Dior Lipstick La Collection. This unique set of five lipstick best-selling shades, especially designed in trendy logomania packaging, is enclosed in a delicate small shopping bag-like box. Makes the perfect gift for Dior fashionistas!
Another thing I didn’t find out which lipstick formula the set’s products use… I would guess Addict, but don’t take my word for it! I will have to check the next time I travel, so bear with me.

Christian Dior’s latest duty-free offering is a day-to-night palette that includes everything you might need (or most of it at least!).
The Dior Cannage Couture Collection All Over Makeup Palette has been inspired by the designer’s baguette bags and features the classic Cannage pattern the brand has been using in all of it’s travel-retail palettes, only in black vinyl this time. The palette also has a panoramic mirror (probably inspired by this Lancôme palette) and what the supplier describes as “expert tips” of how to use and combine the products.
Speaking of products, the palette comes with two harmonies for eyes and lips, one designed for daytime looks and one for bolder, going out looks. In total, thi travel exclusive has six eyeshadows, four lip colours (lipstick and gloss), a mini-mascara, face powder/blush and all the relevant applicators.
The Cannage Couture Collection was launched earlier this month and retails for $79 (£53 at London Heathrow airport). These pictures were taken from the display at Hong Kong International airport – click on the images for larger versions.
Remember the gorgeous Dior Cannage Color Collection Eye palette, which I originally mentioned here? I finally caved and purchased it on one of my last trips (at London Heathrow airport terminal 3, in case anyone’s wondering). I am a big fan of Dior’s eyeshadows and have a few of the brand’s quints, so how could a product with eight shades of buttery goodness go wrong?
I am happy to say I was not disappointed. While the lighter colours are nice but a bit similar and nothing special, the true heroes of this palette are the darker shades. The black on the top left has finely-milled silver glitter, making it quite unique. The metallic burgundy under the black has gold flecks and is truly gorgeous. And the peacock blue on the bottom of the left column is sheer unadulterated goodness. Last but not least, you get a lovely chocolate brown shade on the bottom right.

If you go back to my earliest posts on this blog you might notice the beauty that is the Dior Cannage Color Collection Eye palette. What I failed to mention then was that Dior also launched another palette dedicated to the lips around the same time.
The Dior Cannage Color Collection Lip features eight shades for lips that, according to the company, “combine to form a lip colour palette intended to fulfill your every desire”. It comes in a red vinyl case decorated with the brand’s emblematic canework pattern that defines the company’s Cannage handbags, and you can only find this little beauty in duty-free shops or inflight catalogues around the world.
The palette retails for $49 in travel-retail and is widely available – I saw it last week at a couple of different locations in Europe, for example. Click on the image to see it in all its glory.
Every now and again in my travels I have spotted some amazing finds in duty-free shops, and this is certainly one of those. Christian Dior’s 5 Couleurs Designer palette in Green Design (408) was an Asia-exclusive launch that I coveted for a long time, but could only find on eBay at exorbitant prices. To my surprise, one day I was browsing through the makeup section at Heathrow airport and found it for sale as an airport exclusive. I knew better, but not wanting to test my luck I promptly took one home.
I’m not sure this is still available at Heathrow or any other airport, for that matter, but if like me you have been chasing this palette for a while, keep your eyes peeled when you travel and you might get lucky!

Christian Dior has launched several travel-retail-exclusive products this month, and I will post them all here eventually. This, however, is my favourite: the Dior Cannage Color Collection Eye (click on image to see a larger picture), a gorgeous eyeshadow palette featuring eight shades in the brand’s iridescent formula.
All Cannage products feature the Dior trademark quilted pattern, made famous by the fashion house on patent leather handbags, called “cannage stitching”. This palette comes in a purple vinyl case sporting the Cannage print and contains two double-ended applicators.
This looks like a fairly universal palette, with an interesting mix of cool and warm colours. There’s enough there to make it very versatile and produce day and night looks without much effort.
The Cannage Color Collection Eye is available now around the world and retails for €42/$49. Anyone else in love?
