Skincare brands started to realise last year that frequent travel can wreak havoc on skin. The first one to act on these findings and launch a product specifically for regular travellers was Biotherm, and now sister company Kiehl’s (also owned by L’Oréal) has entered the fray as well.
Kiehl’s Travel-Tested Solutions is a full range of four products designed for skin affected by travel. All products come in travel sizes (so you can fit them in your onboard bag for liquids and gels) and have been tested on pilots and inflight crew of four Chinese airlines – Air China, Air Hainan, China Eastern, and China Southern – to ensure they work under extreme conditions, and that they continue working on your skin after you return from your trips.
According to the supplier, travelling by air causes skin to be affected by dehydration, jetlag and extra sensitivity. To combat these effects, Kiehl’s Travel-Tested formulas use “calming, soothing and anti-microbial properties to help skin defend immediately against these adverse environmental conditions”.
The products are available individually or as a set (pictured below), which includes a limited-edition luggage tag. All four are formulated with cactus flower, known to keep skin hydrated under unusually dry conditions; Tibetan ginseng, a mountain plant known to increase skin-cell respiration at high altitudes; and a blend of lavender, geranium and rosemary rejuvenate skin in the air and in the recovery period days after travel. In-Flight Refreshing Facial Mist: Helps purify skin irritated by severe inflight cabin conditions.
24/7 Activated Moisturizer: Shields skin from extreme inflight dryness and dullness as onboard humidity levels can drop below 10%, which is equal to or drier than a desert.
First Class Purifying Hand Treatment: This cream-gel is supposed to leave hands feeling soft, smooth, and clean.
Eucalyptus Lip Relief Class: A no-shine lip treatment to soothe parched lips.
