On location: Artisan & Artist brushes at Singapore Changi airport
Good news for lovers of high-end makeup brushes: Japanese brand Artisan & Artist is now available at Singapore Changi airport terminal 2′s duty-free beauty stores . The brand was founded in the early 1980s by Seiichiro Hangui, who was disappointed by the lack of useful bags and pouches for professional makeup artists at the time and decided to create his own range, and since 1996 tools including brushes were added to the brand’s product selection.
Artisan & Artist hit the big time in the late 1990s, when cosmetics and fashion labels including Giorgio Armani, Christian Dior and Yves Saint Laurent commissioned customised designs for their brands. While the bags are available at Changi, I am personally interested in the brushes for a simple reason: they are made by Chikuhodo, arguably the best makeup brush manufacturer in Japan – and in the world.
Prices at the Singapore airport stores range from S$39 ($30) for an eyebrow brush to S$103 (around $78) for a 100% goat hair cheek brush. I’m not going that way any time soon, unfortunately, but I would stock up otherwise! You can find more information about their brushes on their website, but it’s only available in Japanese.
