Clinique Eyes To Go palette

without comments

Every once in a while Clinique updates its travel-exclusive products. The Clinique Eyes To Go palette is not a new concept, but for 2013 it is being revamped with different shades.

The palette is compact and comes with eight Colour Surge Eye Shadows in complementary shades, with a formula described by the supplier as “creamy” and “intense”. They come with a dual-ended eyeshadow applicator and the palette also has a mirror for touch-ups on the go.

Eyes To Go is available now for a limited time in travel-retail locations worldwide. I don’t have a list of shades at the moment but will update this post as soon as I can. Click on the image for a larger version.

Clinique Lashes Top to Bottom

without comments

Clinique Lashes Top to BottomClinique has launched this month a travel-retail set dedicated to making (all) your lashes look great. The Lashes Top to Bottom kit (not to the confused with the Rethink Lashes Top to Bottom set available at Sephora, which comes with a mascara for top and one for bottom lashes) includes two tubes of High Impact Mascara (tubing, hence waterproof) and a free promotional-sized tube of Bottom Lash Mascara.

According to the supplier, High Impact Mascara adds colume and length to each lash while Bottom Lash Mascara has a brush specially designed for small lashes and a formula that resists smears. The goal, of course, is to pair the mascaras for the desired effect.

This set is exclusive to duty-free locations in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas from this month and will only be available for a limited time, Clinique said. It retails in German airport stores for €29.50 (about $39) but prices will vary according to the location.

Clinique Best Sellers set

without comments

Clinique Best SellersIf you are a fan of Clinique’s skincare range, this post might interest you. The brand has launched this month the Clinique Best Sellers set, a travel-exclusive trio containing – surprise, surprise! – some of itsmost popular skincare products.

The three products in question are Turnaround Concentrate Extra Radiance Renewer 30ml, Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief 50ml and All About Eyes 15ml.

The first is described by the supplier as providing “a gentle yet high performance exfoliation with moisturisation”; the Moisture Surge cream is an updated formula thatis claimed to keep the skin moisturised for 24 hours; and All About Eyes is the brand’s do-it-all eye cream.

This set is available at duty-free locations in the Americas and Asia/Pacific, but not in Europe (at least for the moment). I’ll update with the price as and when I have it. You can click on the image to see a blown-up version.

Clinique Day to Night Colour palette

without comments

Clinique Day to Night Colour paletteWhile Clinique is perhaps better known for its skincare than makeup, I for one am a fan of the brand’s colour cosmetics (beyond cult favourites such as the Black Honey range, that is!). They were also one of the first lines to launch a range of duty-free exclusives, and this is one of the latest additions.

The Clinique Day to Night Colour palette is a compact selection of products for travel in the brand’s signature silver casing. It comes with one larger pan of Blushing Powder Blush in Cupid (08), three Color Surge eyeshadow shades – Buttermilk (18) in the Stay Matte formula, a Super Shimmer beige shade from the Sunburst Duo (01) and a Soft Shimmer brown shade from the Like Mink duo (02) – and three lip products – two Butter Shine Lipsticks (in Strawberry Ice/56 and Berry Blush/15) and the Long Last Lipstick in Party red (97). It also includes one applicator for each type of product.

All shades are quite pigmented, and the eyeshadows’ texture is soft and buttery. The blush should suit most skintones as it’s a very neutral pink, while the lip colours offer good variety (from MLBB to va-va-voom). The eyeshadows aren’t that varied, and you’d be hard-pressed to do a very dramatic evening look. If you don’t mind powder and cream products in the same palette, this one is certainly a good option for carrying in your bag on a day-to-day basis.

This palette retails for €38.50 (roughly $50)  in German airport shops, but price will vary depending on location. As usual, click on the pictures for larger versions.

Clinique Chubby Stick Trio

without comments

Clinique Chubby Stick TrioThe latest travel-exclusive product from Clinique is a set containing three shades of its Chubby Stick Moisturising Lip Colour Balm. The Clinique Chubby Stick Trio is a box containing individually-packaged Chubby Sticks in Mega Melon (04), Woppin’ Watermelon (06) and Super Strawberry (07).

Mega Melon is a very pretty coral shade, while Woppin’ Watermelon is a bright pink and Super Strawberry a dusty rose colour. The first is the most pigmented out of the three, while Woppin’ Watermelon has the least pigment and took the most effort (and swipes on my arm!) to show the colour off properly. It is important to remember that these are lip balms and not glosses or lipsticks.

According to Clinique, the formula has shea butter, mango seed butter and jojoba seed oil to leave lips soft and supple. In my experience (I had two of them before getting this set) they are indeed moisturising, but again not the best product if you are looking for lots of colour.

I like Chubby Sticks for two reasons: they are a good lip balm formula that doesn’t come in a pot, thus preventing me from getting my fingers dirty during the day; and they feature a nice twist-up action mechanism that does away with the need of sharpening like other pencil-like products, making them practical to have on the go.

While I did ask how much this set costs at Gatwick airport, I am ashamed to confess I don’t remember the exact price! I know it’s around £29 (about $45), which makes it a good deal as each Chubby Stick retails for £15 ($23) in the UK. Click on the pictures for larger versions – these were all taken in natural light.

MAC and Clinique BB creams get extended distribution

without comments

Clinique Age Defense BB Cream SPF 30/PA+++Right on the heels of the launch of Bobbi Brown’s first beauty balm (BB) cream, parent company Estée Lauder Companies has announced that its corresponding products for the MAC Cosmetics and Clinique ranges (Clinique Age Defense BB Cream SPF 30 PA+++, pictured) have gained extended distribution in duty-free and travel-retail.

The MAC BB cream (which is already available in some domestic markets too) can now be found at any duty-free shop that sells MAC products, while Clinique’s distribution is still fairly limited: in addition to Asian travel-retail locations, the product can now be purchased at London Heathrow, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Frankfurt, Munich and Dubai International airports. It’s not a lot, I know, but at least now travellers going through Europe might be able to get their hands on this!

Swatches of both products can be found in this earlier post. Prices may vary according to the location, but the suggested retail price of MAC’s BB cream is $30.

Clinique Happy, Happier, Happiest

with one comment

Clinique is launching this month in duty-free a trio of fragrances including the best-selling Happy and two variations of the scent. The Clinique Happy, Happier, Happiest set features a bottle each of Clinique Happy, Clinique Happy Heart and Clinique Happy In Bloom.

Happy has notes of grapefruit, boysenberry bush flower, Hawaiian wedding flower and spring mimosa, while Happy Heart is described as a “rich floral version”, with water hyacinth and mandarin. Finally, Happy In Bloom is a fruity floral scent with a decorated bottle featuring a seasonal floral pattern.

The supplier has not revealed the price for this set but I’ll update this post as soon as I find in in a duty-free store. Edit: reader Diana bought it for £40! :)

BB cream comparison

with 4 comments

Estée Lauder were kind enough to send me the blemish balm creams (better known as BB creams) it has launched over the last year for three of its main brands. Given the opportunity, I decided to swatch them for comparison purposes – proper reviews will follow shortly!

The three products in question are Estée Lauder CyberWhite EX Extra Intensive BB Creme Multi-Action Formula SPF35 (which I first mentioned here), Clinique Age Defense BB Cream SPF 30 PA+++ and MAC Prep + Prime Beauty Balm UVA/UVB SPF 35 PA+++ (I have already written about this one too). All three are exclusive to duty-free and travel-retail outlets, although only the EL product highlights this fact on the packaging.

Clinique’s offering is the pinkest; EL’s, the most yellow-toned. All three blend well into the skin (for reference, I’m about NW15) and would suit fair ladies. Coverage also seems pretty decent for BB creams, and in my experience their consistency is also heavier/thicker – previous blemish balm products I have tried were almost watery, very runny, while these three are more like proper foundations.

Click on the pictures below to see larger versions. If you have any specific questions, now is the time to ask as I will test-drive all three this month.

Clinique Colour Traveller Palette

without comments

Clinique Colour Traveller PaletteIt is not often that I get the chance to blog about a brand new product, but this one has just landed on duty-free shelves around the world!

Clinique Colour Traveller Palette is the brand’s latest addition to its staple of travel-retail exclusives. The compact features a powder blush in Blushing Blush (that’s a lot of blush in one name!), four Colour Surge eyeshadows in fairly neutral shades to create everyday looks and two long-lasting lip colours. The palette comes in a silver bag that also has a pocket for the three applicators that come with it, making it – in the supplier’s words – “a traveller’s must-have to create a complete look for any destination”.

The set is available now but I haven’t had the chance to check the price yet – any reports are welcome. I’ll update the info when possible.

As usual, you can click on the image to see a larger version.

Clinique Youth Surge Day and Night

without comments

Clinique Youth Surge Day and NightMost Estée Lauder companies launch several products and sets that are only available in travel-retail throughout the year, and Clinique is no exception.

Clinique Youth Surge Day and Night is one of those – it contains a 50ml jar of Youth Surge Day SPF 15 Age Decelerating Moisturizer to protect the skin during the day, a 50ml pot of Youth Surge Night Age Decelerating Moisturizer to help repair the skin at night and a deluxe sample (7ml) of All About Eyes Rich, a thick eye cream that addresses under-eye circles and puffs, according to the company.

I haven’t tried any of the Youth Surge products so can’t give my opinion on those, but the original All About Eyes cream is pretty good. I found it rich already though, so the new version should be more appropriate for extra-dry or problematic skin.

The Youth Surge set is available from April at travel-retail locations.
